Position Overview:
The Special Education Coordinator will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and overseeing special education programs and services within our organization.
This individual will collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to ensure that students with special needs receive the support and resources necessary to achieve academic success and personal growth.
Responsibilities:
Ensure each child receives the appropriate services by coordinating with teachers, support staff, and external service providers to meet the individualized needs outlined in their IEPs.
Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to collaborate with parents/guardians, educators, and other stakeholders in developing and reviewing student goals and accommodations.
Develop measurable and achievable goals for each child based on their unique strengths, challenges, and learning objectives, in alignment with state standards and educational best practices.
Maintain regular communication with service providers to ensure that specialized services, therapies, and interventions are delivered consistently and effectively to students in accordance with their IEPs.
Review student progress and data regularly to assess the effectiveness of interventions and make necessary adjustments to support student growth and achievement.
Initiate discussions with parents/guardians regarding additional services or supports that may be beneficial for their child's educational and developmental needs.
Conduct intake calls with parents/guardians to gather information about each child's specific needs, strengths, preferences, and challenges, in order to develop comprehensive and individualized education plans.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to provide ongoing training and support related to special education practices, strategies, and resources.
Serve as a liaison between school personnel, parents/guardians, and external agencies to facilitate communication, collaboration, and advocacy on behalf of students with special needs.
Monitor and track student progress, attendance, and behavior data to evaluate the effectiveness of special education programs and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies related to special education, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
